Maple Bacon Cupcakes

These amazing Maple Bacon Cupcakes are frosted with Vanilla Bourbon Buttercream Frosting and topped with Candied Maple Bacon Crunch. They’re the perfect sweet treat for your favorite bacon lover!

Ingredients

Boxed vanilla cake mix Water Eggs Butter Bacon grease Bourbon Vanilla bean paste Salt Heavy cream Sliced bacon Maple syrup Brown sugar

Step one

In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat all of the cupcake ingredients together. Divide among the 24 cupcake cups

Step TWO

Bake for 12-17 minutes, until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.

Step THREE

For the frosting, beat the butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Continue beating and gradually add the powdered sugar.

Step four

Add the bourbon, vanilla paste and salt, and beat in the cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the frosting is the perfect consistency.

Step FIVE

For the candied bacon, pour maple syrup in a shallow dish, and drag each slice of bacon through the syrup.

Step six

Sprinkle the brown sugar over the bacon and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil topped with parchment paper

Step seven

Bake for about 15 minutes, then blot excess grease with paper towels. Bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, then let cool for 5 minutes.

Step eight

Cut 2 of the bacon strips in 1/2 inch pieces using kitchen scissors or a sharp knife. Chop the rest in small pieces.

Step nine

Scoop the frosting in a pastry bag with a fluted or smooth tip and frost the cupcakes.

Step ten

Garnish each cupcake with  the larger pieces and smaller candied bacon bits.
