Equipment

  • 1 Large skillet
  • 1 baking sheet
  • 1 Cooling rack
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Sharp knife
  • 1 silicone spatula
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup blanched slivered almonds
  • 3/4 cup real mayonnaise
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon ranch dip mix
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped for garnish (or substitute chopped parsley or chives)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, fry the chopped bacon until crisp. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel lined plate. When cool, crumble finely.
  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Spread the almonds on a baking sheet and bake until fragrant and lightly browned, about 5 to 6 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
  • In a serving bowl, combine the mayonnaise and sour cream until blended. Add the ranch dressing mix and cayenne pepper, and stir until combined.
  • Reserve 1 tablespoon of the crumbled bacon for garnish, and add the rest to the dip mix. Add the cheese and toasted almonds and stir until blended.
  • Top the dip with the crumbled bacon and chopped green onions. Serve with your favorite dippers, such as chips, crackers, or vegetables.
