24rectangular crackers such as Chicken in a Biskit or club crackers
1/2cupbrown sugarpacked
1/4teaspooncayenne pepper
1/4teaspoonground black pepper
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Cut the bacon strips to wrap around the crackers, doubling the layer on the cracker bottom.
Arrange the bacon wrapped crackers on the rack fitted inside the foil lined baking sheet.
Combine the brown sugar, cayenne pepper and black pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture generously over the crackers.
Bake until bacon is browned, about 15 minutes. (Your cooking time may vary depending on your bacon thickness.) Remove from oven, cool for 5 minutes, and turn over crackers using a spatula.
Sprinkle the bacon-topped crackers generously with the brown sugar mixture and return to oven. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 15 more minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven and let the crackers cool for at least 5 minutes. Serve the crackers warm or at room temperature.
Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy! Makes about 2 dozen crackers.
Notes
Store any leftover crackers tightly wrapped or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, spread on a baking sheet and heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Bake until hot, about 8 minutes.
