What Are Sliders?

What makes a sandwich a slider? In general, a slider is a miniature version of a tasty sandwich. Our Mini BLT Sliders are a great example!

Like our Bacon Breakfast Sliders, many slider recipes are for little sandwiches made from Hawaiian rolls or dinner rolls, which are assembled and baked before serving.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Rolls, bacon, cheese slices, chicken, butter, mayo, and seasonings.

Here’s what you’ll need to make these bacon ranch chicken sliders:

Sweet Hawaiian Rolls: Opt for the 12-count package of sweet Hawaiian rolls to provide a delightful touch of sweetness and softness to your sliders.

Cooked, Chopped Chicken: Ensure the chicken is fully cooked and chopped into bite-sized pieces. Poached chicken breasts, roasted chicken thighs, rotisserie chicken or leftover cooked chicken all work well, and you can also substitute leftover turkey.

Bacon: Use 8 slices of your favorite bacon. You can use regular or thick sliced, smoked or flavored, cured or uncured. The choice is yours!

Colby Jack or Cheddar Cheese: We like Colby Jack or sharp cheddar cheese for this recipe, and we get it fresh sliced at the deli. Feel free to substitute your favorite smooth, melting cheese such as Havarti, pepper jack cheese, Monterey Jack or medium cheddar.

Mayonnaise: Real mayonnaise adds the best tangy flavor. (Have you tried Duke’s mayo yet? It’s SO creamy and delicious.)

Ranch Dip or Dressing Seasoning: Use 1 teaspoon of ranch dip or dressing mix to infuse the mayonnaise with the signature ranch flavor.

Butter: Use salted or unsalted butter, depending on your preference. Melted butter is blended with Worcestershire and generously brushed on the rolls before baking, giving them a golden crispy exterior.

Garlic: Real garlic infuses the butter topping with aromatic flavor. In a pinch, you can substitute garlic powder.

Worcestershire Sauce: This hard-to-spell sauce gives a savory and umami-rich flavor to the butter glaze mixture.

Grated Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan cheese adds a touch of nutty flavor to the sliders.

Chives: A garnish of finely chopped chives adds color and a mild onion flavor to the sliders. If you don’t have fresh chives, you can substitute finely chopped green onions.

Recipe Variations

Feel free to get creative with different ingredients to make these Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders uniquely your own! Here are some of our favorite ways to vary the recipe:

Spicy Buffalo Ranch Sliders: Add a kick of heat by tossing the chicken in buffalo sauce before assembling the sliders. Top with crumbled blue cheese or gorgonzola for an extra burst of flavor.

Avocado Ranch Sliders: Layer slices of ripe avocado on top of the chicken and bacon.

BBQ Bacon Ranch Sliders: Swap out the regular bacon for barbecue bacon and brush the chicken with your favorite BBQ sauce before cooking. The combination of smoky flavors and ranch dressing is a winner.

Mushroom Swiss Ranch Sliders: Sauté sliced mushrooms and onions until caramelized, then pile them onto the chicken and bacon. Top with Swiss cheese and a drizzle of ranch for a rich and savory option.

Jalapeno Popper Ranch Sliders: Mix chopped fresh or diced pickled jalapenos into the chicken mixture for a tangy and spicy kick.

Pesto Ranch Sliders: Stir a tablespoon of fresh pesto sauce in the ranch mayonnaise before spreading on the rolls.

Greek Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders: Replace the ranch with tzatziki sauce and crumbled feta cheese. Add sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and chopped Kalamata olives for Mediterranean-inspired flavors.

Caprese Ranch Sliders: Layer sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves on the chicken and bacon. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and ranch dressing for a light and summery twist.

Ranch BLT Sliders: Keep it classic by adding lettuce and tomato to your sliders along with the bacon and ranch. The fresh crunch of lettuce and juicy tomato pairs perfectly with the other flavors.

Bacon Jam Sliders: Spread the buns with delicious bacon onion jam instead of ranch mayo, and proceed with the recipe.

How to Store Leftover Sliders

To store leftover Chicken Bacon Ranch Pull Apart Rolls, wrap them in plastic wrap or foil and place in an airtight container. Store tightly wrapped in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To reheat, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Arrange the sliders on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and cover loosely with foil. Heat until the sliders are heated through, about 10 minutes. Cool briefly and serve.
